Stay Alive AZ for Teen Drivers
Statistics clearly indicate that young adults between the ages of 15 and 24 are involved in more car collisions than any other age group. The program Stay Alive AZ was created as a result of this startling information. If a young adult reaches the age of 25, the probability of being involved in a car collision significantly decreases. The program is designed to help teenagers make wise decisions in the early driving years.
Stay Alive AZ is made up of concerned parents, compassionate teachers, and knowledgeable professionals that have come together to prevent the #1 killer of teens - vehicle collisions. It is Horizon High School’s plan to provide this program to the student body through live video presentations, discussions and student activities throughout the school year.
Click here for the 2009-2010 Stay Alive AZ mini-series schedule at Horizon High School.
Parents whose teens are learning to drive may want to consider the use of a Parent/Teen Driving Agreement:

Be sure to check out the Stay Alive AZ website, which contains other resources available to parents and teens.
B.E.S.T. Meeting Dates
(Building Educational Support Together)
The B.E.S.T. organization exists to plan and organize parent education for our schools. This is a great opportunity for all community parents to come together and meet parents from the other schools and to be informed on a variety of topics of interest to the parent community.Tuesday, September 22, 2009 (Tentative) -- @ HHS -- Topic: PVUSD Override Information
Tuesday, November 17, 2009 -- @ DSMS -- Topic: What's Ahead for Me and My Child
The SafeHomes Program
SafeHomes offers an opportunity for parents to join together to help provide a safer environment for our children by creating an atmosphere where alcohol and drug use is not acceptable. No responsible and informed adult can deny that the use of alcohol and drugs pose a real and unacceptable danger for our teens. When parents join together and take a united stand against alcohol and drug use, they become much more effective than if they act separately.
