2008 - 2009 PAWS Grants Program
The PAWS Grants program is in its 5th year at Horizon.
PAWS Grants Application Rules
The following are the rules for applying for and receiving grant funds.
1. The grant funds must be used to benefit a group, club,
event or organization associated with Horizon High School.
PAWS Grants Application Process
1. The requestor must complete the Grant Request Form and
acquire approval from the school administration.
All fields / questions on the Grant Request Form must be completed / answered.
It is open to any club, class, program or group at Horizon
who wishes to undertake a project that will benefit the campus or school.
In order to be considered, the requesting class, club, program
or group simply needs to fill out an application and turn it into
the front office.
Ask the receptionist to place the application in the
Principal's mailbox for approval.
The requestor must attend a monthly PAWS
meeting to present the request.
The funds used to underwrite the grants are provided from PAWS various fundraising earnings.
Please note that our funding is dependant on our money being available.
In order to contiuously keep funds available, please check out our
Fundraising page and join all our programs.
Following are the rules and process for applying for and receiving grant funds.
2. Grant funds are not available for one individual
student, faculty member or administration staff.
3. Grant requests may be submitted at any time during the year.
4. The funds for the Grant recipients will
be available for use for a six-month period following the
PAWS vote (can be longer if extenuating circumstances).
5. Any funds dispersed but not used within the six month
period must be returned to the PAWS Grant fund.
6. Grant requests will be voted on at
the monthly PAWS meeting.
7. Funds for the PAWS Grant Program come entirely from available funds.
Recipients may or may not receive the full dollar amount requested.
8. Grant requests that are not approved may be re-submitted.
2. The requestor must write an explanation essay
(500 words or less) describing how your group/organization/project will
benefit the Horizon High School students, faculty, staff or campus.
3. The requestor will return the Grant Request Form and attached
explanation essay to the front desk at Horizon High School.
Ask the receptionist to place in the Horizon High School Principal’s mailbox for approval.
4. Once the request is approved, it will be given to PAWS.
5. A PAWS member will contact the requestor to schedule a presentation.
The request will be presented at a monthly PAWS meeting by the requestor.
This will give PAWS an opportunity to ask questions and fully understand the use of the funds.
6. The grant requests will be voted on at the next PAWS monthly meeting.
7. The Grant Request recipients will be notified by a PAWS member and
schedule / arrange for disbursement of funds.
8. The requestor of any requests denied will also be notified.
9. Funds will only be dispersed when copies of the appropriate supporting
documentation (invoices, proof of payments/purchase, receipts) is given to PAWS.
If the item (s) is being purchased in the future, then an estimate must be provided
and copies of supporting documentation must be given PAWS.
